A Monday In Hell

WOW! Where do I begin? Probably at the beginning huh? I decided to go to Annadel with my friend Adam today. He picked me up and we met his friend Ian on Stonehedge Dr. in Santa Rosa. From there we rode our bikes, all of us on single speeds, up the Canyon trail and then up Marsh. It was not raining yet, but i had a feeling it would be soon and because of the recent storms the park is extremely wet and muddy. I have never ridden with Adam or Ian before, so i wasn't exactly sure what I was in for. The pace up Canyon was a brisk one, but not super fast. I figured that was how it was going to be throughout the ride. I was wrong.

Once we hit the Marsh trail I decided I would push it as hard as I could and try and give them a run for their money. That was not the best idea I have come up with. As I was nearing Ridge I began to feel a little tired, but thought that was alright because we would probably just head down the bumas. I was wrong again. Ian passed me going very fast, but I was able to keep it up until we stopped at Buick Meadow. Once there Ian tells me we are going to head down Lawndale and then climb it again. HUH? So, we were off to descend down Lawndale. It was a very muddy ride down and an even muddier ride up. My back wheel kept spinning the whole time. It was starting to become very frustrating and by this point i was very, very tired.
At the top we decided it would be best if we just went down Two Quarry and then made our way back to the car. That was the first time I've gone down that trail on that bike. It was so fun! I bet once it dries up a little that bike will handle great. Half way down there was a huge tree in the way that we had to hop over too. We have reached the bottom! YES! My Legs can rest now.

Once again, I was wrong. Adam and Ian decided that we should all climb Richardson back up. I figured, what the hay! Im in! The climb was not as bad as I thought it would be, but it had started to rain. I think I was just extremely tired at this point. We reached the top as a group and descended Steve's trail. That trail was a lot of fun. From there, we spun down Channel dr. and finally reached the car. It felt so good to know that I truly gave this epic my all. Now its time to enjoy a ham and cheese sandwich and a beer.
